My name is Darrin Karuzas and I have been a Senior player in the AFGL since October of 2016.  I grew up playing soccer in South Florida and eventually attended Lynn University where I was able to compete in three NCAA Div 2 Championships. Following that, I played in the ASPL (Ft. Lauderdale Strikers and Miami Freedom) as well as the USISL (Boca Raton Sabres, Cocoa Expos and Myrtle Beach Boyz) over a span of five years.  I remember back in the 80's and 90's after soccer practice, we would pick a target (light pole, goal post, garbage can) and always play a few holes of what is now called Footgolf on the way to parking lot.  Thank you to Michael Jansen and others for making it an official amazing game!

In 1996, I married my high school sweetheart Linda (married 23 years now) and began teaching math in High School.  I coached Boys and Girls soccer at Olympic Heights and West Boca Raton High School from 1993-2006, recording over 320 wins and two State Championships.  I also coached as an Assistant Director at Team Boca for 10 years. Over the last 23 years, I went into administration and eventually became the Principal of Sedona Red Rock High School (2011-2018).  I have continued playing and coaching over that time as well as raising two wonderful children, Nevada, who is a sophomore at the University of Central Florida, and Carson, a freshman in high school. Carson is the three time reigning National Junior Champion.

As far as accomplishments and honors go, I won the 2017, 2018 and 2020 National Championship (Seniors) and finished 2nd in 2019.  I have won 18 tournaments and represented the US National FootGolf team in the USA, England and Morocco, including the World Cup of 2018, where I finished 8th.  I have had the pleasure to meet and compete with the world's best players and develop great friendships.  The AFGL provides many amazing opportunities for many players and I have helped promote and push the game since joining.  My support team consists of several friends, family, small businesses including Canyon Mesa Country Club in Sedona, Arizona and R2 Unified Technologies out of Boca Raton.
